Residents chase out MP over failure to fulfill his pre-election promises

The MP for Mbeere South, Geoffrey King’ang’i was chased out by angry residents

Angry Mbeere South residents who are allegedly tired with their MP’s poor performance and non-implementation of his 2017 pre-election promises chased him out after he showed up at one of the functions in the region unexpectedly.

The lawmaker, Geoffrey King’ang’i, found himself between a rock and a hard place when irate residents forced him to flee from the public function.

Photos shared by netizens showed the first term Jubilee lawmaker who is a retired Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) colonel running for his dear life as the locals pursued him.

“Mbeere South residents chased away their MP Geoffrey King’ang’ i after he failed to deliver any viable project since he was elected in 2017,” Almamy Moha tweeted.

A section of Kenyans from the region accused the MP of gross misconduct, embezzlement of CDF and abuse of office.

In July 2020, a report released by parliament watchdog Mzalendo Trust ranked King’ang’i as one of the most silent MPs who contributed little in the floor of the House.

The annual parliamentary scorecard revealed the legislative output of the third session of the 12th parliament was exceptionally low compared to other sessions, with a staggering 21 MPs making no contribution in 2019.
