Sudan’s transitional government and several rebel groups have signed a peace agreement aimed at resolving years of war in which hundreds of thousands of people died and millions displaced in different regions across the country.
Sudan does not want to link its removal from a U.S. terrorism list that is hindering access to foreign funding for the country’s economy with a normalisation of relations with Israel, Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok said on Saturday.
Nearly 830,000 people have been affected by the devastating floods in Sudan, the UN Office for Humanitarian Affairs said on Thursday, even though flood waters have been receding in recent days.
Most of the damage is found in Khartoum, North Darfur, West Darfur, Blue Nile and Sennar regions of Sudan.
Sudan has sent a high level delegation to the United Arab Emirates to negotiate with American officials as the country tries to get removed from the US list of countries that sponsor terrorism.
