The Mozambican government is calling for international support to deal with the latest wave of insurgency attacks.
It follows the reported killing of more than 50 people by Islamist militants in Northern Mozambique.
Reports say the militants turned a football pitch into an “execution ground”, where they decapitated and chopped bodies.
The state media is also reporting that several people have also beheaded in another village.
The latest attack is aimed at curbing the resistance from villagers.
The militants linked to the Islamic State (IS) group have carried out gruesome attacks in gas-rich Cabo Delgado province since 2017 killing more than 2,000 people.
Over 430,000 have been left homeless in the conflict in the mainly-Muslim province.
Since January, about 60 people have either been beheaded or shot dead in an attack on a village in Cabo Delgado.
The Mozambican security forces have also been accused of carrying out human rights abuses, including arrests, torture and killing.
