Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey was in action for Atlético Madrid in their narrow win over Real Valladolid in the Spanish LaLiga on Saturday.
The 26-year-old lasted the entire duration of the game as Atleti earned a 1-0 win at the Wanda Metropolitano courtesy a late goal from Vitolo.
The game, which was the first to be played in over three months at the stadium was preceded by several tributes to club legends, members, and supporters who passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Ghana international almost broke the deadlock with a 35-yard shot that Jose Antonio Caro turned away for a corner in the 80th minute.
The home side had created loads of chances before Vitolo came off the bench to replace Marcos Llorente with 17 minutes remaining, with Joao Felix and Alvaro Morata also going close.
Vitolo headed the ball just over the line after a corner from the left reached him at the far post in the 81st minute for the breakthrough.
The win lifted Los Rojiblanco to 3rd on the league table with 52 points after 30 matches played thus far.
Partey was shown a yellow card for tripping Miguel de la Fuente.
He has made 27 league appearances and scored two goals for Atlético Madrid this season.
