Kenya’s Gospel Artiste Kevin Bahati Closes his Recording Label

Kenya's award-winning gospel artiste Kevin Bahati has closed his recording Label dubbed EMB records which stands for Eastlands Most Beloved. This name emanates from the fact that the singer hails from the Eastlands part of Nairobi City where he was born and raised.

The talented artiste announced this news through his YouTube Account, which surprised most of his fans. He cited jealous from other gospel singers in Kenya as one of the reasons that led him to make the decision. He said that the EMB Records Management had been mistaken to be taking advantage of the upcoming artistes that he had signed. However, he emphasized that he had opened the recording label to help uprising gospel musicians develop their talents. According to the Star, a popular newspaper in Kenya, the multi-award winning gospel artiste was forced to terminate contracts of approximately three uprising gospel artistes since he says that these artistes had been used to create hatred against him.

After shutting down EMB Records, what next?

In an exclusive interview with Radio Citizen’s presenter Willy M. Tuva on his popular show Mambo Mseto, Singer Kevin Bahati claimed that Kenya’s gospel industry is full of fake artistes who live fake lives and do not support one another. While responding to a question by the presenter Willy M. Tuva, the Bahati said that he now wants to focus on his music, that he is working on a new album. He also mentioned that he is thinking of starting a children’s home as a way of giving back to the community.

As such, the multi-award winning artiste, popularly recognized by his intro “Ni Bahati Tena” meaning ‘It’s Bahati Again,’ is yet to disclose more details about the new recording label is yet to open. However, his fans are in a state of suspense if it shall be a gospel-based label since Bahati has been doing collaborative music projects with secular artistes, releasing trending music known as Gengetone. However, let's stay tuned and see the next steps he shall take.
