Senegalese authorities have restricted internet access as protests over the detention of an opposition leader intensify, internet monitor NetBlocks said on Friday.

Operatives of the Abuja Zonal Office of Nigeria's Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have uncovered another training centre for the grooming of internet fraudsters.

Internet is back on in Uganda five days after the government ordered service providers to switch it off just hours to last Thursday's general election.

The smartphone and the internet play the same crucial role for Tabu Kitta as they do for most Africans in their 30s: "Everything I do revolves around using the internet. I make calls mostly using the internet. I text mostly using the internet. On a good day, I watch videos online," Kitta told DW.
